That’s right…we are coming to America the Beautiful with amber waves of grain and enchiladas, guacamole, and queso and turkey and mashed potatoes!
We leave tomorrow evening, Monday the 12th, and arrive in St. Louis on Tuesday p.m.
It is crazy to think we will be there in no time, back in our homeland in our native culture that may seem not so native anymore after living here for awhile. Re-entry is always interesting…re-learning all the things you WERE used to doing but not so anymore. Like wearing shoes inside the house, or putting all your leftover food in the disposal seems weird, using dollar bills and cents, going to Target and H-E-B and the Gap, wearing long-sleeved shirts and close-toed shoes, using seatbelts, hot water to wash your hands, carpeted floors, smooth roads, petting clean dogs, eating with a fork and knife, drinking water from the tap. All these things will seem foreign to me again as I re-enter my own culture. Strange!
We are going to St. Louis to visit Covenant Seminary, as seminary education may be in our immediate future or at some point….then we will go on to Atlanta for the Global Missions Conference our agency is putting on. Pray for us to be able to meet new people and recruit! Then on to Washington, D.C. to visit Andrew’s brother, sister-in-law and sister, then on to San Antonio, to visit my family over Thanksgiving. Then on to Dallas to see friends and visit some seminaries, then back to Bangkok via San Fran. Whew! It’s alot for 13 days, so please pray for strength, energy, and a quick recovery from jetlag, as we are 13 hours ahead of central time U.S, so the adjustment is always a tough one.
Also please pray for the 6th grade Thai proficiency exam I will take on December 1st, only 2 days after we return from the States. Pray I will have and make time during this visit to study sufficiently and practice speaking with Andrew whenever possible.
Can’t wait to see everyone. And eat some turkey.
